Smokey 90's inspired makeup look

Going back to my MAC Warm Neutrals palette (I'm obsessed - I know) I decided to create a smokey, matte and sultry look.
I've been fixated on the nineties lately and have been sporting a more neutral, warm and polished look. With over drawn and extremely nude, Kyle Jenner inspired lips.

Base
I started off with the Benefit Porefessional, for a smooth matte base.
I then used a mixture of MAC's Face and Body foundation and Revlon Colour Stay - the oily/combination skin version.
I used Illamasqua's cream pigment in Hollow to contour the jaw, cheeks and nose.
I went in with MAC's prolong wear concealer in NW15 to highlight the face.

Eyes
On my eyes I used the MAC Warm Neutral's palette
First I primed with Soft Ochre paint pot
Brule - all over the lid
Sable - through the crease and lightly dusted over the lid
Illamasqua precision ink gel liner, for a strong wing
To soften and smoke the wing I used Dark Brew and Dance in the Dark layering and blending them over the gel liner to create a more sultry nineties look

Lips
On my lips I used MAC's lipliner in Whirl, I applied this all over then blotted several times before going in with MAC's faux lipstick. Because Faux is a Satin finish, I blotted and reapplied the lipstick also.

Face
I set my contour with Illamasqua's Sculpting duo  using Heliopolis where I wanted to create shadow and highlighting the tops of my cheeks with Lumos.
I skipped blush and just added more of Heliopolis to the front of my cheeks to create a warmer neutral look.

I wore this makeup to work and I work in retail, so I'd say it was a suitable day time look as well as something a little glam for the evening.

I will hopefully be posting looks like this more regularly and my phone camera didn't do so bad this time!

MAC Warm Neutrals Palette

In my last post I mentioned I had finally finished my degree. (wahoo)
As a gift to show how proud she was, my mother bought me a gift.
This gift was the new MAC Warm Neutrals Palette.
This is basically a pre made MAC palette full of warm, neutral shades which will compliment grey, green and blue eyes.
Obviously I was over the moon to receive this as I was going to purchase it for myself.
The new pre made neutral palettes retail for £65.00 this is insane when you consider the pan eyeshadows on their own cost around £10.00 each now. You are saving a LOT of money by investing in one of these palettes.
However, the shadows are not removable like the regular pro palettes are that you build yourself, you could probably pry them out but I won't be trying anytime soon.

Anyway, I am planning to purchase the Cool Neutrals version as well, and add the both to my freelance kit. This way I will have enough eyeshadows to please most people when starting out freelancing, as well as a convenient way to carry and store them.

I created this simple "deep crease" natural looking makeup for work.
It's a simple defined crease with a smokey lash line and a small winged liner.

I used MAC Soft Ochre paint pot as a base
From the palette I used:
Brule - all over the lid and up to the brow bone to create an even matte base
Sable - as a transition through the crease, I built the colour until I was happy with it
Dance in the Dark - I defined the crease even more with a pencil brush just in the areas I wanted a more intense crease

I went back and forth with blending a lot for this look, and Sable is my new best friend.

I know these photos aren't amazing, I used my phone for now but I will be investing in a new camera nearer the start of my course so I can create a portfolio of the looks I create at makeup school!

I'm becoming a make up student!

I would like to start off by firstly apologising.
I have been MIA for FAR too long on this blog, as well as my ever so neglected Youtube Channel…
I've recently completed my degree and decided I need to do something for myself and follow my dreams.
I am lucky to have my family and friends behind me to support my journey into the wonderful world of MAKEUP.
Yep, makeup.
I've decided to study to finally become qualified in makeup, and become a makeup artist!
Makeup is something I've always dreamed of doing and everyone around me has always wondered why I hadn't gone down the makeup artistry route.
But I am finally going to do it!
I'm pursuing my dream.
I have applied for a year long course, as well as this I am going to apply for a home based course to receive two more qualifications.
I am so excited I can barely sit still when I remember I have applied to MAKEUP SCHOOL!
So bare with me, I am currently working at my current job really hard (I don't really have a day off) so that I can save up money. I need to pay for my courses, but also I am building my kit.
However, I do plan to blog about my journey EVERY STEP of the way.
I am so excited about this whole experience and I really can't wait to share it with you all on my blog as well on my Youtube Channel. I PROMISE I will create and upload videos more, really.

Thank you for being patient with me and for continuing to follow my blog (even with my lack of posts)

Thanks again,

Ammy
